Head coach: Wyatt Nahale (2nd season) Offensive coordinator: Paki Cummings Defensive coordinator: Neil Wehrsig
Players to watch: QB Sheynen Nahale (5-11, 190, Sr.), WR Jacob Mahelona (5-7, 165, Sr.), S Shane Kalahiki (6-0, 160, Sr.), WR Ayzen Cummings (5-11, 180, Jr.), OL Josiah Kaaua (6-1, 275, Sr.)
Coach's words: "You can expect our team to compete with discipline and team effort. We want to play each down as if the championship is on the line. I feel that we stack up well among our league and we anticipate this season to be a very competitive year." - Wyatt Nahale
SL's take: Sheynen Nahale, the son of the head coach, passed for more than 2,000 yards as a freshman starter at Konawaena. After Wyatt Nahale got the Kealakehe job in 2019, he brought Sheynen with him. The QB logged more than 500 fewer passing yards as a sophomore, but his 1,503 yards through the air that year belie the growth that Sheynen Nahale experienced that season. He completed just 47 percent of his passes (175 completions of 372 attempts) as a freshman and had 17 TDs passes and 24 INTs. As a sophomore, Nahale registered a 63 percent completion rate (122 of 194) with 13 TDs to just five INTs. Nahale also has the ability to extend plays with his feet; He averaged 5.6 yards per carry and totaled 222 yards and four TDs rushing in 2019. Mahelona and Cummings will be among Nahale's favorite targets, while Kaaua will anchor the OL up front. With a well-seasoned QB in Nahale at the helm, the offense has the potential to put up big numbers, but the defense, with a noticeable lack of varsity experience, will be a question mark.
