Four Hawaii players make Reds Area Code team

Four Hawaii players were selected to represent the Cincinnati Reds Area Code Team, according to ESPNHS Baseball.

Iolani shortstop Tanner Nishioka, Saint Louis catcher Iolana Akau, Waiakea third baseman Kean Wong and Mid-Pacific outfielder Marcus Doi, all seniors-to-be, were selected after tryouts recently on the Mainland. The positions listed are according to the Area Code team.

The Reds team, which also has players from Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and one from Florida, will play other Area Code teams in a tournament Aug. 5 to 10 at Blair Field, home of Long Beach State's baseball team. The tournament is watched by college recruiters and pro scouts.
