Defending champ Mid-Pacific top seed for D1 tourney


ILH regular season champ and defending state title holder Mid-Pacific was named the top seed for next week's DataHouse Softball State Championships, set for May 2-5 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Owls will get a first round bye, as will second seed Campbell, third seed Lahainaluna and fourth seed Hilo.

In first round matchups, Baldwin will take on Waianae on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., followed by Kamehameha-Kapalama-Moanalua at 3:00 p.m., Kapolei-Kailua at 5:00 p.m., and Punahou-Mililani in the final game of the first round at 7:00 p.m.

Division II top seed Waimea will get a first-round bye, as will second seeded Nanakuli, third seed Kamehameha-Hawaii and fourth seed Lanai.

Opening round matchups at Central Oahu Regional Park will start at 5:00 p.m., with Kohala taking on Waipahu and Hana facing off with Waialua. Then in the 7:00 p.m. games, Kalaheo will battle Honoka'a and Kauai matching up with Saint Francis.
