WAIPIO-Campbell will be back to defend its Oahu Interscholastic Association Red softball crown Friday night when it takes on Ewa plain rival Kapolei.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park. The game will be televised on OC16.

The Hurricanes (12-2), who swept the regular-season series from the Sabers (10-5) en route to winning the Western Division title, are looking for their first crown since 2005, when they beat Mililani, 9-1. Campbell is trying to be the first repeat champ since the Trojans turned the feat in 2007 and 2008.

The Sabers advanced to the title game with a 13-4 romp of Kailua in Thursday night's semifinal. Last year, Campbell beat Kailua for the OIA Red crown. Trailing 4-2, Campbell sent 13 batters to the plate in an eight-run fifth.

Meanwhile, Kapolei rolled Waianae, 8-3, in the other semifinal.
