Gusman to work BCS title game






George Gusman, the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association's football officials coordinator, is on the Big 12 Conference officiating crew that will work the Jan. 9 BCS Championship game between Alabama and LSU. Gusman has worked as a Big 12 linesman throughout the season and also worked the Notre Dame-Air Force non-conference game at South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 8.

The BCS title game will be shown live on ESPN at 3:30 p.m.

Gusman, who also is Saint Louis' baseball head coach, worked the BCS Championship Game between Alabama and Texas in 2010 and has officiated in the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Aloha Bowl (twice), Sun Bowl (twice), Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl, among others.

Gusman is a 1969 graduate of Saint Louis and officiated Hawai'i high school football from 1974 to 1987 before moving to the Western Athletic Conference in 1988.
