HBA defeats Sacred Hearts for third


Tiffany Thompson and CJ Asuncion recorded seven kills each to lead the Eagles (14-1) past the Lancers (12-6) 22-25, 25-17, 25-17 and 1-4 in the third-place match of the New City Nissan/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II Girls Volleyball State Championships at Blaisdell Arena Saturday.

The match was shortened due to the time limit. Asuncion also had 10 digs and two aces and Krystal Oyasato added 13 assists for HBA, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu titlist. Shawna-Lei Santos had nine kills and 10 digs for Sacred Hearts. Carli Kamai recorded a match-high rn18 digs and Kahea Leiderbach added 11 digs for the Lancers, the runner-up from the ILH.


DIVISION II

FIFTH PLACE

Konawaena def. Roosevelt, 3-1

Dawnyelle Awa notched 10 kills, 13 digs and two blocks to lead the Wildcats (19-2) past the Rough Riders (12-8) 18-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 9-8rn in a match shortened due to the time limit. Jasmine Ward added nine kills and seven digs for Konawaena, the runner-up from the Big Island Interscholastic Federation. Alida Holt had a match-high 14 kills and Taylor Bradley added 16 assists and 12 digs for Roosevelt, the OIA champion.


CONSOLATION FINAL


Radford def. Molokai, 3-0

Imani Wimbush hit .522 with 14 kills against just two errors in 23 attempts to lead the Rams (8-9) to a 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 sweep of the Lady Farmers (9-7). Marie Togiailua had eight kills and Rachel Kapesi added 16 assists for Radford, the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's third-place team. Maui Interscholastic League runner-up Molokai, which won its first state title last year, got 10 kills and nine digs from Leenell Hernandez.
