Thomas Fairman had 19 points and 14 rebounds as St. Joseph beat Kapaa, 49-44, in a Division II consolation game at Kalani.

Fairman, 6-foot-5 junior, had 11 rebounds and all three of his blocks in the second half for St. Joseph, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up.

Fairman's bucket off an assist from William Scanlan-Leite gave the Cardinals their largest lead at 42-35 with 5:45 left in the third period.

Kapaa, the Kauai Interscholastic Federation champion, got as close as 44-42 after Spam Lindsey�s basket with 2:55 remaining. Fairman scored the final five points for St. Joseph over the final 2:08.

Sebastian Ohara-Saft added 11 points, and Scanlan-Leite had five assists for St. Joseph (8-8).

Kainoa Colipano had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Kapaa (10-5).
