Higher-seeded teams advance in OIA boys' soccer


Brett Rex scored all of the goals in Moanalua's 3-1 win against Pearl City Tuesday night in the opening round of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red boys' soccer tournament at Kapolei.

In another opening-round matche, host Kapolei beat Kalaheo, 2-0.

In matches at Roosevelt, host Roosevelt beat Campbell, 5-0, and 'Aiea beat Kailua, 3-2.

The losers are eliminated from the tournament.

In quarterfinals Wednesday at Mililani, Kalani will play Kapolei at 5:30 p.m. and Moanalua will take on Mililani at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, at Kaiser, Leilehua will battle Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. and Kaiser will play 'Aia at 7 p.m.

In the White Tuesday night at Kahuku, Waipahu beat Farrington, 1-0, and Kahuku beat Wai'anae, 3-1.

In semifinals Wednesday at Castle, Radford will play Kahuku at 5:30 p.m. and Waipahu will take on Castle at 7 p.m.
