Dawnyelle Awa and the Wildcats opened up a 15-0 first quarter advantage and never looked back in a 57-32 win over Kaiser in a Division I quarterfinal matchup.

Awa scored a game-high 20 points for tournament top-seed Konawaena, and also led the team in assists (4) and steals (6), while teammate Lia Galdeira had 13 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Wildcats defensive pressure forced 33 Kaiser turnovers.

Mele Adams, Makana Borden and Darcy Goulsby each scored 8 points for the Cougars, who will face OIA East nemesis Farrington in a consolation bracket game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Blaisdell.

Konawaena takes on 'Iolani, who upset fourth-seed Farrington the first of two Division I semifinal games tomorrow, also at Blaisdell. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
