Girls Volleyball
Kauai Challenge starts this week


Defending Division II state champion Hawaii Baptist Academy is among 18 teams that will compete in the ninth annual Kauai Challenge Volleyball Invitational Aug. 5 to 7.

Matches will be played at Kauai and Kapaa high schools and Island School.

There are six three-team pools. The first two days will be pool play with playoffs on the last day.

Here are the pools:

First day matches at Kauai High

A - Dos Pueblos (Calif.), Pearl City, Kauai Red
B - Redlands East Valley (Calif.), Maryknoll, Iolani Red

First day matches at Island School

C - Iolani, Rim of the World (Calif.), Barrow (Alaska)
D - Newbury Park (Calif.), Waimea, Island School

First day matches at Kapaa High

E - St. Joseph, Seabury Hall, Kauai White
F - St. Bonaventure (Calif.), Hawaii Baptist Academy, Kapaa

Matches begin at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5, 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 9 a.m. Aug. 6.
