Molokai rebounded from an opening set loss to defeat Hawaii Baptist, 14-25, 25-18, 26-
24, 25-16, in a Division II semifinal match at Kalani.

Kalei Adolpho led the way with 16 kills, 14 digs, 1 block and 4 aces, Kailani Ritte-Camara had 12 kills and 12 digs and Kalei Vaivai added 12 kills and 11 digs for Molokai, who advance to tomorrow's Division II title match against top-seed University High. Match is set for 6 p.m. at McKinley.

"We all stepped up," Vaivai said. "We all communicated, it was really balanced."

Molokai is the first Maui Interscholastic League team to reach the Division II state final since Seabury Hall in 2007. University High last won a state title in 1990 when there was just one state classification.

HBA's CJ Asuncion had 14 kills, 10 digs and an ace in the loss. The Eagles, who had won the last three state titles, were tenacious on defense as they have always been, and hung around with the Farmers with their smart play and court sense.

"Their defense was on it all night," Vaivai said. "They definitely gave us a fight. Back in the MIL, we pound and pound and it goes straight down. Here we pound and pound and they dig balls. Its crazy. We just had to look for shots."
