Bless Cabrera-Hopkins and Luke VanAntwerp hauled in two touchdown receptions apiece to help No. 5 Mililani to a 35-23 win over No. 3 Kapolei in both teams' regular-season finale Saturday night.
The Trojans (7-2 overall, 4-1 league) never trailed against the Hurricanes (6-4, 3-2) to lock up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Oahu Interscholastic Association Open Division playoffs.
Mililani bounced back from a 45-20 loss at top-ranked Kahuku a week ago to snap Kapolei's three-game win streak on homecoming night at John Kauinana Stadium.
Cabrera-Hopkins and VanAntwerp each recorded four catches for 92 and 66 yards, respectively. Cabrera-Hopkins pulled down touchdown receptions of 28 and 54 yards, both in the second half, while VanAntwerp opened the scoring wtih his 34-yard scoring strike from Kekoa Koong with 7:42 left in the first quarter. VanAntwerp and Koong also hooked up for a 10-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter.
Both of Cabrera-Hopkins' TD receptions were thrown by Dallas Carter, who came off the bench in relief of Koong.
Prince Tominiko ran for a touchdown and also intercepted a pass in the win.
Trehsyn Fesili led all players with 10 ½ tackles; He also made two stops behind the line of scrimmage, including one sack, and intercepted a pass for the Trojans.
Koong finished 10-of-20 passing for 92 yards and Carter went 3 for 3 for 88 yards; neither quarterback was intercepted.
Chazz-Michael Kapahu ran for a pair of touchdowns for Kapolei, which finished with 227 yards of total offense.
Mililani tallied 292 total yards, including 112 rushing. Jarius Borges paced the Trojans' rushing attack with 15 carries for 98 yards.
Jacob Ballesteros threw for 156 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-18 passing; He was picked off twice.
The teams will face off once more in the semifinals of the OIA tournament in two weeks. Top-seeded Kahuku will meet fourth-seeded Campbell in the other semifinal.
