Caizel Jesus-Kapesi found Hiki Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo for the go-ahead score with 4:31 left in regulation as Aiea gutted out a 29-24 win over Moanalua, avenging a narrow defeat from a season ago.

"The boys lost to them last year, so we had to come back and get some redepmtion," said Legend Byrd-Tauala, who carried the ball 12 times for 92 yards to go along with a game-clinching interception.

Na Alii got out of the gates quickly, as Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo outraced the defense for a score from 13 yards out at 5:34 mark of the first and Jesus-Kapesi found Malachi Liilii-Utu from 30 yards away for another with just nine seconds left in the quarter to make it 14-0 in favor of the home team.

"He's our main player," said Jesus-Kapesi of Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo. "He's a dog out there. He just does his thing and he's like, here to work."

That lead held through the first half, but Na Menehune closed to within a single score as a Kamuela Farias one yard plunge and a 6 yard pass from Tyler Gines-Hufana to Ryder Chang bookended Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo's second rushing score, as the score was just 21-14 at the intermission.

It remained a single touchdown advantage untiil the 1:39 mark of the third, where Makani Markle-Kane booted through a 37 yard field goal to get Moanalua to within just three points.

Na Menehune actually took the lead at the 10:20 mark of the fourth as Farias punched in the go-ahead score from four yards out to give the visiting squad a 27-24 advantage, but Na Alii rallied back with a late drive aided by a number of costly defensive penalties, capping the game-winning drive with a nine yard from Jesus-Kapesi to Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo from nine yards away and extending the margin to five on Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo's keeper on the ensuing point-after try.

"It was just a designed screen," said Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo of the game-winning pass play. "I trusted the blocks and just caught the ball and went inside. (As for the two-point conversion) it was a simple inside zone and I trusted the blocks, the O-line played a big part, they did their jobs 100 percent."

Moanalua had one last gasp at the win with under 30 seconds in regulation, but a Gines-Hufana pass attempt sailed on him, ending up in the hands of Legend Byrd-Tauala, who leaped up for the grab, bobbling it momentarily before securing the interception and then smartly sliding after a brief return to end the threat.

"I thought it was going to be the last play and I was hurt to be honest," said Tauala of the play. "My coach pushed me to my limits and what happened, happened, thank God."

Jesus-Kapesi completed 22 of 36 passes for 220 yards and two scores, Kim Choy-Keb-Ah Lo added three total touchdowns to go along with 92 combined offensive yards, and Ezra Spencer had six grabs for 109 yards.

Na Menehune was led by Javien Mizuno's 10 catched for 116 yards and Ryder Chang's eight receptions for 69 yards and score. Farias toted the rock a game-high 16 times for 70 yards.
