The Warriors and Monarchs will face off in the title game of the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA Division II Baseball Championship, set for 4 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.

A one-all tie was broken in the bottom of the eighth as the Warriors got back-to-back runners on as each was hit by a pitch, followed up a batter later with Sonny Thomas reaching safely on a bunt, loading the bases.

From there, Kaitin Mundon drew a nine-pitch walk to bring home the winning run, advancing the Warriors to its first baseball title game in school history.

The Hurricanes' lone run came in the third inning, as Peyton Hilacion drew a bases-loaded walk of his own that put the OIA runners' up in the lead until the sixth inning, where the Warriors equalized with Thomas scoring from third on a wild pitch.

Kapaai's Iden Kaui-Reconsal and Kapolei's Kajh Rego were locked in a pitcher's duel, with Kaui-Reconsal lasting 6 1/3 innings with two hits, one run, six walks and five strikeouts to Rego's seven innings, two runs, no walks and eight strikeouts.

Mundon closed the game out for the Warriors, going 1 2/3 innings to earn the win.

In the late game at the Les, perennial D2 state titlist reached its fourth final in as many years with a 6-0 blanking of Waianae.

Max DeTrinis threw a complete game shutout, allowing no runs on just four hits, walking three and striking out four.

The Monarchs offense provided more than enough run support, as Nainoa Begonia's first inning RBI single got the home team on the board first, and a three-run inning in the second, highlighted by two RBI double by Kona Begonia, made it 4-0.

For good measure, Damien added two more runs in fifth courtesy of back to back RBI singles by Rydge Kohagura and Takeo Tsukiyama for a six run cushion.

The Monarchs are seeking a second straight title and its third in the last four years. It has reached the Division II final in six of the last seven tournaments.
