Rayvin Pagan singled to score Sage Tokoro with two outs in the top of the seventh inning and Jayden Hunt closed the door on Kailua's 4-3 win over host Kalani in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I East baseball game Wednesday afternoon.
The Surfriders (4-1) snapped the Falcons' (2-3) two-game winning streak to maintain a tie with Kaiser for first place in the OIA D1 East standings.
Kalama Carreira drove in a pair of runs and Brandon Moore also had an RBI to lift Kailua past Kalani, which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.
Warner Ishii batted 2 for 4 with a double and Colby Taniguchi drove in a run in the loss for the Falcons.
Starter Colby Taniguchi allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 5 1/3 innings of work for Kalani. Shayden Sera was dealt the loss after he surrendered two runs and two walks and failed to record an out.
Hunt was the winning pitcher for Kailua. He logged two innings of work with three strikeouts in relief of starter DJ Kauahi, who gave up two unearned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk in five innings pitched.
Both teams continue league play Saturday. Kailua wil visit Moanalua, while Kalani will host Roosevelt. First pitch for both games is slated for 11 a.m.
