Noah Sham singled to score Mana Shigehara-Pang as Kaiser walked off with a 5-4 win over visiting Roosevelt in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I East baseball game in Hawaii Kai Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars (4-1) recorded their second straight win at the expense of the Rough Riders (3-2), who saw their two-game win streak come to an end.
Kaiser trailed 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh innings, but plated a pair of runs to stave off the loss.
Bryson Toner picked up the win for Kaiser. He allowed one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.
Hayzen Inouye (2 for 3, double, RBI) and Tanner Kagimoto (2 for 3, double, two runs scored) were the lone Cougars to pair hits.
Toby Nogawa batted 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Rough Riders.
Kayden Tolentino was the losing pitcher. He allowed two runs on three hits in just 1/3 innings pitched in relief of starter Matthew Chun, who surrendered three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks in 5 2/3 innings of work.
Both teams will return to the diamond Saturday. Roosevelt will meet Kalani at Kahala Field, while Kaiser will visit Castle. Both games are scheduled for 11 a.m. start times.
