Mililani's quest for a second straight state title goes on.
Pookela Tom-Makue scored the lone goal in the Trojans' 1-0 win over Kekaulike in quarterfinals of the Motiv8 Foundation/HHSAA Division I Boys Soccer State Championships at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex Thursday afternoon.
Tom-Makue scored in the 65th minute off an assist from Kalen Toguchi to lift the top-seeded Trojans (14-0) past the Maui Interscholastic League runner-up Na Alii (11-3) and into Friday's semifinal round.
It was Tom-Makue's fourth of the season.
Mililani, the No. 1 team in the ScoringLive Power Rankings, will take on Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up and fourth-ranked Kamehameha in a 7 p.m. semifinal Friday at the Waipio main stadium.
The matchup between the Trojans and Warriors will follow the 5 p.m. semifinal between No. 3 Campbell and No. 2 Iolani at 5 p.m.
The Oahu Interscholastic Association runner-up Sabers (12-2-1) secured their spot in the semis with a 2-1 win in penalty kicks over MIL champion Baldwin Thursday.
Bryson Ancheta scored for Campbell, while Tsubasa Thompson netted the lone goal for the Bears (11-2).
The Sabers edged the Bears, 6-5, in the penalty kick shootout.
