Mon, Dec 30, 2024 @ Aiea
Aiea led 15 points heading into the final quarter, then held off a fourth quarter rally by Nanakuli in a 63-55 win.
Shealand Kazama and Noah Park scored 17 points and 15 points respectively for Na Alii, who also got 10 points off the bench form Andreas Adams.
Park knocked down all seven of his free throw attempts, as Na Alii hit on 13 of 16 from the line compared to just 16 of 32 for the Golden Hawks.
Vainuupo Fanuaea led all scorers with 20 points, and Zhyrisen Kahalekai and Ezekiel Donnell each chipped in nine for Nanakuli in the loss.
The win helped Aiea open its league campaign with three straight wins, but the sledding gets much tougher, as two of the next four opponents rank in the top 5 of the Power Rankings (Leilehua #4 and Mililani #5).
Aiea sits well ahead of the rest of the pack in the Division II standings, as none of Na Alii's peers have notched league wins as of yet.
Nanakuli stands at 2-1 in the Division I West standings, but its two wins have come against Division II foes, and the meat of its schedule awaits, much like Aiea.
