Kamehameha-Maui scored early and often en route to a 60-26 thrashing of visiting Roosevelt in the semifinal round of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II State Championships Saturday night.
The top-seeded Warriors (8-3) posted 24 first-quarter points and got a pair of kickoff returns for touchdown from Tevyn Apo in the lopsided win over the fourth-seeded Rough Riders (10-3).
Apo scored on kickoff returns of 89 and 90 yards and Anthony Sardine Jr. opened the scoring after he recovered a blocked Roosevelt punt in the end zone.
Zedekiah Campbell ran for a pair of touchdowns, both of them in the first quarter, and finished with 10 carries for 121 yards. Kaikea Hueu carried nine times for 124 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Titus Joaquin tallied 2 1/2 sacks and Kolt Kahoohanohano recorded a pair of interceptions and returned one 49 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Warriors, who will play Kaiser in the state championship game Saturday at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium.
Keawe Davis caught 12 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns for the Rough Riders.
