Brayden Schager ran for a career-best 120 yards and four touchdowns to lead Hawaii to a 34-13 win over Nevada in a Mountain West Conference football game Saturday night.
A crowd of 12,006 spectators at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex saw the Rainbow Warriors (3-5 overall, 1-2 league) pick up their first win over an Football Championship Subdvision opponent.
Hawaii never trailed the Wolf Pack (3-6, 0-3) and led by as many as 24 points after Schager's fourth touchdown run gave his team a 31-7 advantage with 14:07 left in the game.
Schager punched in a pair of 1-yard TD runs in the first quarter and scored on runs of 3 and 6 yards after halftime. His third rushing score capped a 13-play, 75-yard drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock.
Hawaii amassed 242 rushing yards on 42 carries, an average of 5.8 yards per attempt. Schager averaged 6.3 yards per rush for his 19 carries, including a 46-yard scamper. Landon Sims carried nine times for 82 yards and Tylan Hines chipped in seven rushes for 26 yards.
Schager threw for 153 yards on 14-of-25 passing with one interception. He made his school-record 30th consecutive start at quarterback, a streak that dates back to 2022, but saw his run of 11 straight games with a passing touchdown come to an end.
Kansei Matsuzawa converted field goals of 27 and 30 yards in the win.
Marcus Bellon was on the receiving end of both Nevada scores. He hauled in a 63-yard TD pass from Chubba Purdy early in the second half to cut the Hawaii lead to 17-7. Bellon also pulled down a 10-yard scoring strike from former Saint Louis school quarterback and Maui native AJ Bianco, which brought the Wolf Pack within 31-13 with 8:43 remaining.
Bellon finished with six receptions for 111 yards. Purdy was 13-of-18 passing for 155 yards and an interception and Bianco went 13 of 21 for 131 yards.
Nalu Emerson had a sack and an interception and Meki Pei tallied six tackles and a fumble recovery to lead Hawaii defensively.
The Rainbow Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak and will look to carry over momentum into next Saturday's road game at Fresno State.
