Nainoa Lopes threw four touchdown passes, including a pair to Hashley Kingston Siliado and No. 6 Saint Louis pulled away from No. 8 Kamehameha, 37-7, in the regular season opener for both teams Friday night.
The Crusaders (3-2 overall, 1-0 league) claimed their third straight win and never trailed the Warriors (3-2, 0-1) in the first game of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu schedule.
Lopes completed 20 of his 29 pass attempts and was not intercepted. His 7-yard touchdown pass to Kingston Siliado opened the scoring with 1:25 left in the first quarter. The same pair connected on a 6-yard scoring strike with 3:44 to play in the third quarter.
Lopes tossed a 71-yard TD pass to Stytyn Lasconia that stretched the Saint Louis lead to 21-7 after three quarters. His 8-yard TD pass to Titan Lacaden made it a 31-7 lead with 5:24 remaining.
Dallas Pelen-Talalotu closed out the scoring with his 65-yard blocked punt return for touchdown.
Kamehameha's lone points were a result of a 58-yard TD run by Maddox Sharrer at the 3:29 mark of the second quarter and cut the Crusaders' lead to 14-7.
The Warriors recorded 317 total yards, including 208 rushing. Nainoa Melchor carried 12 times for 101 yards and Sharrer added five carries for 69 yards.
