PAC-5 notched a season-opening win at Waialua, 34-14, racking up 194 yards of offense via the air in the process, the highest reported passing total since a 262 yards total against Kalaheo on Aug 13, 2022.

The Wolfpack, who averaged 134.6 yards of rushing in 2023, still found success via the run, punchingi in three three scores on the ground, one by Kalen Donate and the other two by Seth Miller, the leading returner in the run game from a season ago.

Miller finished with 12 carries for 56 yards.

Two quarterbacks cycled into the game for the Wolfpack, Braden Sarahina and Colten Amai-Nakagawa, who both put up very similar numbers, completing 10 passes each on 16 and 15 attempts respectively. Amai-Nakagawa, the only PAC-5 player with a passing statistic in 2023, had the only scoring toss in the game, a seven yarder to Colt Hauptman late in the second quarter.

Joe Lilio led all pass catchers with six grabs for 90 yards, and Donate added seven catches for 48.

Waialua was shut out for three quarters on the scoreboard before finally putting up points early in the fourth, as Jace Apau scored on a one yard plunge.

Apau then added a seccond score from 17 yards out with 1:13 left in regulation, to make it 26-14 contest, but on the ensuing kickoff, Hauptman took the ball back the other way for a 67 yard return for touchdown to make the game all but academic.

Waialua quarterback Emery Abilla led all rushers with 090 yards on 14 carres.
