In an 11 inning marathon on the opening day of the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA Division I Baseball Championships, Pearl City got a two out, walk-off RBI single from Devin Fujino to oust ninth ranked Aiea, 3-2.

The win marked the first one in four tries this season for the Chargers, who had lost all three prior games in league play.

The bottom of the 11th saw Tyler Oshiro draw a one out walk, followed a batter later by Ethan Higashionna, who doubled to right center to put runners on second and third, setting up Fujino for the walk-off.

Noah Bernal's game-tying, two RBI single in the sixth inning was the breakthrough Pearl City needed, as they were all but held in check prior. Aiea opened the game with a run scored in the first on a Bostan Ujimori single and added another in the fifth on an inside-the-park home run by Ryan Abe.

Both teams sent out four pitchers to the mound over the course of the game. Aiea starter Aidan Yoshida went 5 1/3 allowing one run, while Fujino started for Pearl City and went 5 innings allowing two runs.

The Chargers then turned to Bernal, who threw three innings of shutout baseball before giving way to Jase Lorenzo, who pitched a scoreless ninth and tenth inning. Noah Kia then took the mound in the top of the 11th and held Na Alii off the scoreboard again, setting up Fujino's walk off.

Brennen Panis came on for Yoshida in the fifth and closed out the inning, and was followed by Kylan Kono, who pitched shutout ball in both the seventh and eighth innings, giving way to Dylan Wong, who went the rest of the way.

Aiea had its chance in the top of the 11th to plate a run, as Dennison Zakahi reached third base after reaching on a fielder's choice, stealing second, and settling in to third on a Caden Schaefer single. But Kia got Abe to ground out back to the mound, ending the threat.

Abe had a 3 for 5 day at the plate including two runs scored and an RBI. Fujino, Higashionna and Jayson Au Hoy each had a double in the contest.

Aiea had four fielding errors compared to none for Pearl City.

Up next for the Chargers is a matchup with top-seed and ILH champion Kamehameha. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday back at Les Murakami Stadium.
