Punahou continues unbeaten streak, hands Kamehameha second straight loss

Top-ranked Punahou needed four sets to hand third-ranked Kamehmeha its second straight defeat in league play. The set scores were 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23, and marked the first time the Buffanblu dropped a set this year.

Nalu Akana did a bit of everything in the win, putting down 12 kills to go along with 13 digs, two blocks, an ace and 30 assists.

Evan Porter had team-high 18 kills in the win and four other players hit double digits, Akana, Adam Haidar with 11, and Brody Badham and Afatia Thompson with 10 each.

Haidar also had three blocks and Badham added a pair of blocks as well.

The Buffanblu got 31 assists and an ace from Elijah Smith, and Matt Chun had a team-high 14 digs.

The last time the Warriors dropped consecutive games during the ILH regular season was back in 2017, when Kamehameha lost consecutive matches, a three-set loss to Iolani on Mar 18 followed by a straight set defeat to Punahou 10 days later.

Punahou improved to 5-0 on the year, and extended its current match streak to nine. It last setback came back on May 4, 2023, a five set loss to Kamehameha.
