Back in the win column.
Romeo Ortiz threw four touchdown passes — two to Aizek Kaanoi — to power Kailua to a 50-7 win over host Radford in an OIA Division I contest at John E. Velasco Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The defense came away with seven sacks and three takeaways in the game to help the Surfriders improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.
A partially blocked punt on Kailua's opening possession led to a Radford score, but it was all Surfriders from then on out.
Clayton "Ikaika" Quidachay got the Surfriders' scoring going with a 1-yard TD run to tie the game at the 2:48 mark of the first quarter.
Kaanoi hauled in the first of his two TD passes on the first play of the second quarter from 18 yards out to give Kailua the lead for good.
Stoney Pocock and Ezekiel-Allan Valdez also hauled in scoring passes from Ortiz, who completed 10 of 13 passes for 169 yards.
Roch Schaefer had the lone TD grab from Bezeiah Togafau to lead Radford, who fell to 0-6 and 0-2.
The Surfriders will wrap up league play with a road game against Waipahu next Saturday while the Rams have a bye before traveling to take on Castle on Oct. 13.
