PUKALANI, Maui —Frank Abreu scored the go-ahead touchdown and Logan Andrade's pick-six completed a 20-point fourth quarter to help Kamehameha-Maui rally past No. 15 King Kekaulike, 34-21 in front of a sold-out crowd at Na Alii's stadium Friday.

"It felt awesome, it was good because we lost 28-26 and it's a great time to be back. It's a great win and it's a step towards a state championship," Abreu said.

Makana Kamaka-Brayce threw for 188 yards on 17-of-22 passing without an interception and three touchdowns went to three different receivers as the Warriors improved to 3-0 in the MIL Division II.

After shutting out Maui and Baldwin by a combined score 82-0, Na Alii suffered its first loss and fell to 2-1 in MIL play.

KS-Maui's defense forced a turnover on downs and took over on King Kekaulike's 49. Not long after, Frank Abreu caught his second pass of the night for a 40-yard score to put the Warriors ahead, 27-21 with 1:29 to go in the fourth.

"Honestly that was a broken play," explained Abreu. "I was supposed to run a go, but I seen them scrambling so I did a curl and came back to the ball and ended up scoring a touchdown."

Prior to the contest, he had six catches for 104 yards against Baldwin and five for 145 yards and three touchdowns against Maui. Tonight, he had two catches for 57 yards.

"This game, all games, I'm not looking for stats. Coach Afoa says, ‘Be a ‘we' not a ‘me', we're just a team and we got to stick together and I don't care about stats."

Logan Andrade picked off Kalelepono Wong for a 30-yard interception return to shut the door on King Kekaulike's comeback 19 seconds later.

"Our ‘D' did not give up until the very end. The game meant a lot to a lot of us and it's great to win and have this experience and go onto the next," Abreu said.

Kaonohi Casco punched in a 3-yard run in the first quarter and KS-Maui extended the lead, 14-0 after Dylan Schnitzer caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kamaka-Brayce.

Jordan Yoro's 28-yard run set up Ikea Sumibcay's 8-yard touchdown run to get King Kekaulike on the scoreboard.

Wong rushed for 90 yards on 10 carries and scored both touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He broke multiple tackles on his way to a 23-yard touchdown but the snap was no good.

"That's a great team. They gave us a hell of a fight. I want to thank them and I grew up with all those boys, I love them and great game," Abreu said.

Na Alii's Ahe Sumibcay recovered the ensuing kickoff and Wong finished the drive with a 1-yard touchdown plunge and Yoro's run put King Kekaulike up, 21-14.

The Warriors responded with a drive of their own and got to Na Alii's 23 after Schnitzer drew a pass interference penalty. Kamaka-Brayce got to the 14 with a keeper and threw a pass to Zedekiah Campbell. On the next play, he found Teiva Kauhaa-Po (seven catches, 54 yards) on a slant and Kamalei Cua's kick tied the game at 21.

The Warriors look to continue its win streak against Baldwin on Friday, Sept. 22 at War Memorial Stadium. Na Alii look the bounce back and will take on Maui the following night.

KS-Maui and King Kekaulike close out the regular season at Kanaiaupuni Athletic Stadium on Friday, Oct. 27. A Na Alii win would force a tie-breaker game for a state tournament berth.
