Waipahu improved to 8-3 on the year with a 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17 win over East fifth seed Kalani in the opening round of the OIA Division I playoffs.

Samson Leasiolagi had a match-high 14 kills and 2 total blocks Isaiah Tutuvanu added 11 more kills and a pair of total blocks of his own to lead the way for the Marauders, who also got nine kills and eight services aces from Jayzin Kaneao.

Setters Tyce Nakamura and Jarrick Bagaoisan combined for 5 kills and 40 assists in the win.

Kalani was led by Eric Chan, who put down 10 kills and added an ace.

The Marauders will take East second seed Roosevelt in the quarterfinals.
