Bryden Takayama scored the game-winning run on a single by Titan Pasco with one top in the bottom of the eighth inning to help Leilehua walk off with a 3-2 win over Kapolei at Wahiawa Middle School Friday afternoon.

The Mules improved to 4-4 in the OIA Division I West, while the Hurricanes fell to 2-6.

Takayama led off the Leilehua eighth and was hit by a pitch to get aboard. He advanced into scoring position on a Zane Winter single, before Kapolei's Matthew Puahi-Kapololu got Koen Barton to fly out to right fielder Ezra Kanakaole for the first out. Both runners held on the fly out, however, Pasco followed by lining the first pitch he saw from Puahi-Kapolulu into left field, which allowed Takayama to score from second.

Leilehua took an early lead on an RBI-bunt single off the bat of Barton in the bottom of the first.

Kapolei's Ezra Kanakaole doubled and came around to score in the top of the third to tie it at 1.

The Hurricanes took the lead on Lleland Ramos's two-out RBI-double in the fourth inning, but the Mules pulled even in the bottom half of the frame with a Bryce Anzai RBI-sacrifice fly.

Barton (2 for 3, walk), Winter (2 for 3), Pasco (2 for 4) and Keola Hanoa (2 for 3) each paired hits for Leilehua.

Starter Pono Arindain scattered four hits over 6 1/3 innings and registered six strikeouts against three walks in a no decision. Barton did not give up a hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief and got the win.

Puahi-Kapololu went the distance for Kapolei. He gave up 10 hits and three walks and struck out one batter and fell to 2-3 on the year.

Both teams continue OIA West play Wednesday. The Hurricanes will visit Pearl City at 3 p.m., while the Mules will meet Mililani at 6 p.m. at Patsy T. Mink/Central Oahu Regional Park.
