Rondell Blenman-Villarreal had a bit more juice in his tank in Campbell's playoff game against Moanalua Friday night.

The former Na Menehune scored nine of his team-high 15 points after halftime to help the Sabers pull away for a 65-54 quarterfinal win in the OIA Division I tournament.

The Campbell senior dribbled into a 3-pointer to start the second half and took a rebound coast-to-coast in a middle of an 8-0 run that helped the Sabers outscore Moanalua by 10 in the third period. He also added nine rebounds and three assists in the Campbell win.

"Because he came from Moanalua… he went Moanalua his freshman, sophomore year, so he was more hyped than anybody else," Campbell coach Wyatt Tau said of Blenman-Villarreal. "He kind of took over the game in the third quarter.

"He's our captain, he's our leader and I needed him to do more, be more aggressive. I think he saw the opportunities and went to the basket."

Blenman-Villarreal scored two more baskets in the fourth quarter, but his final take may have been a costly one. The Campbell senior's strong move to the hoop with 2:40 on the clock saw him take a hard fall before he limped off the court on his own power.

He was seen on crutches in the postgame handshake and is doubtful to play in the Sabers' semifinal matchup against Kailua next Monday at Radford's Jim Alegre Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.

"Right now we probably might lose him for Monday's game," Tau said. "Our guys, they going to come back and they're going to play whether he's down or not. We understand we have to move on. He's a big key for us. We'll see what happens in our next game but we just got to be ready. Our kids are ready to go. It's just going to be a little more tougher if he doesn't suit up."

Malik Jackson was the next leading scorer with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench. He did most of his damage on putbacks and had a hand in the Sabers scoring nine second-chance points in the second quarter to help Campbell take a 28-25 lead at the break.

Royson Dacuycuy and Mizah Carreira each scored nine points to round out the top contributors for Campbell. Dacuycuy knocked down three 3-pointers, all in the first half, and Carreira added seven rebounds with two assists and a steal and a block.

Skylar Miysasto scored 23 points with four assists and three steals and Cyrus Faradineh had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Moanalua in the loss.

Na Menehune led 14-13 after the opening period after Miyasato took a mishandled pass the distance for a buzzer-beating layup. Moanalua’s bench also contributed seven points in the first quarter, but was scoreless the rest of the way.
