Joey Lin sealed the game from the free throw line to help Hawaii Baptist Academy secure a 48-43 road victory and spoiled Sacred Hearts Academy's Senior Night at Dorothy Macy Nobriga Gymnasium Tuesday.

A raucous, ear-splitting crowd saw the Eagles win their third-straight game and improved to 8-2 in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II standings in the final week of the season.

Lin posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Marissa Nakata led the Eagles in scoring with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and six rebounds, Trislyn Maeda added 12 with six rebounds, and Kaitlyn Maruya chipped in eight points and five boards off the bench.

Nahenahe Alo led all scorers with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and eight steals. KalysaMarie Ng added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench, and Rory Anne Redila with nine, but the Lancers fell to 8-2 on the season.

Ng tied the game at 43 with a 3-pointer at the top of the arc to pump up the home crowd. However, Nakata answered on the other end and was fouled on a baseline drive to put HBA ahead, 45-43 with 28.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

"I felt that was a really big play. Not only we had to make sure our passes were clean, but for her to finish was a big thing for us," Lin said of Nakata's go-ahead basket.

She missed the free throw and Sacred Hearts came down the court to potentially tie or take the lead, but gave the ball back to HBA. The Eagles inbounded the ball to Lin and was fouled with 17.9 seconds left on the clock. She swished the pair to make it, 47-43 to ice the game.

"I was like, ‘I got to make this'. I felt that was my biggest regret last year was my free throw percentage and I'm trying to work on it this year," Lin said, who is 13-for-22 (59.1 percent) on the season.

Lin shot 8-for-12 (66.6 percent) overall from the charity stripe and was 4-for-6 in the fourth quarter.

"Another big thing for us was making our free throws. That really helped us change the turn of the game. When we were down, we weren't making our free throws and we weren't boxing out. In the second half, after we fixed those mistakes and those problems, we got past it," Lin said.

Redila drove and was blocked by Nakata and Lin secured the rebound and was fouled to put her back on the line. She made the first and missed the second as time expired.

The Eagles as a team, shot 16-for-28 (57.1 percent) from the free throw line while the Lancers shot 10-for-20 (50.0 percent) for the game.

Sacred Hearts took a 13-12 advantage going into the second period and Alo and Ng accounted for nine of the Lancers 11 second quarter points and Alo had a steal and layup as she was fouled with 7.0 seconds left. She missed the free throw but Sacred Hearts led, 24-22 at halftime.

The Eagles shot 15-for-35 (42.8 percent) from the field while the Lancers shot 14-for-50 (28 percent) from the field for the game.

Both teams traded 3-pointers to open the third quarter. Maeda hit a baseline floater to tie the game at 27 and Lin followed up by converting the three-point play. Maeda hit a 3-pointer to complete an eight-point swing to give HBA their largest lead of the game, 33-27. Ng and Alo combined to end the third quarter on a 6-2 run and trailed, 35-33 going into the fourth.

Redila went coast-to-coast to bring the Lancers within one, 36-35. Kaitlyn Maruya extended the lead back to three on a drive. Both teams traded free throws before Sydney Europa hit a 3-pointer off a kick-out pass from Alo on the left wing to bring Sacred Hearts within two, 42-40. Maeda split her double bonus free throws that allowed the Lancers to tie the game.

Sacred Hearts won the boards by a slim margin, 38 to 35.

"I felt like my team and I did a really good job keeping and doing the little things. I think we struggled with boxing out in the beginning but we accomplished what we wanted to in the second half and that was to get more box outs so that we give them less second chances," Lin said.

The Eagles avenged a 45-40 loss to the Lancers earlier on Jan. 3.

HBA closes out the regular season at Hanalani (8-1) on Thursday while Sacred Hearts ends their regular season at Mid-Pacific (4-6) on Saturday.
