The Campbell girls soccer team keeps rolling.

The Sabers handed No. 10 Waipahu its first loss of the season with a 2-0 win in a OIA West match at the Masa Yonamine Athletic Complex Tuesday night.

Jessica Ancheta scored her first goal of the year in the 22nd minute and Sierra Sam Fong added an insurance goal in the 78th minute to help Campbell earn its sixth straight win to improve to 6-1-1 with two games left in the regular season.

The Sabers were held scoreless in their first two matches, but have allowed just two goals so far this year and have won five straight contests by shutout.

"Coming into the last three games of the season, we always should be finding our stride and peaking right into the playoffs," said Campbell coach James Curran.

"Our girls, there was a lot of fixing to do throughout the season, and I think we're getting to a really good place leading up to the end of the regular season."

The Sabers controlled the pace of the game for nearly the entire night and constantly won 50-50 balls. They also had eight total corner kicks while the Marauders had just one.

"Our girls were hungry," said Curran. "We knew that Waipahu was in the rankings. This was our statement game for us as far as all the hard work that we've been putting together to see where we're really at."

Ancheta's goal in the first half came after she finished off a corner kick by Jaylee Curran in the far post. Sam Fong's score late in the match was off a pass from Raeah Raymondo.

Waipahu, who dropped to 6-1-1, had its best scoring chance come with five minutes left in the match. After a yellow card gave the Marauders a free kick from midfield, Waipahu was able to generate a corner kick after the ball deflected off the Campbell keeper's hands. The Sabers were able to clear the threat, which led to Sam Fong's goal a few moments later.
