Kamehameha-Kapalama led for three quarters but Millenium (Goodyear, Arizona) woke up and rallied in the fourth to win, 66-56 in the opening round of the Iolani Classic at the Father Kenneth A. Bray Athletic Complex Saturday.

Kingston Tosi, 6-foot-6 sophomore, scored a game-high 20 points, Cameron Holmes, a 6-foot-6 freshman, added 15 and another freshman Brayden Barrett contributed 13 off the bench to help the Tigers advance to the winners bracket and sets up a rematch with Milton (Georgia) on Monday at 8 p.m.

Milton (Georgia) won in a preseason game back on Dec. 10, 61-46.

The Warriors play Radford at 12 p.m. on Monday.

Christian Togiai poured in 17 points to lead the Warriors and Kyler Wade added 14 and a pair of threes. Zion Donnell provided a nice jolt off the bench with seven.

Wade scored five points, including a 3-pointer to give Kamehameha a 18-13 lead going into the second quarter.

The Warriors opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to go up, 28-15. Tosi stopped the Tigers' scoring drought momentarily but Zion Donnell answered with a bucket to give Kamehameha a 15-point lead, their biggest lead of the game.

"We talked about enjoying the moment. For our guys, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play these teams and just enjoy the moment and shoot it with confidence. As we broke their press, they shot with confidence and we hit a bunch in the first half," Kamehameha coach Larry Park said.

Tosi scored eight points to help Millenium chip away and Donovan Franks converted an assist from Holmes to get within five, but Xander Aquino hit a pair of free throws to give the Warriors a 34-27 lead at half-time.

Kamehameha hit six of their seven 3-pointers in the first half.

"Be exciting and be fun and the Hawaii fans will cheer for you. We had our intermediate team behind us yelling and they were excited and energized to be out there," Park said.

Wade canned a triple to open the third quarter but Millenium answered with an 8-0 run that included back-to-back triples from Tosi and Barrett to get within two, 37-35.

Togiai extended the lead back to five after a drive, but JT Amundsen hit a 3-pointer and Holmes was fouled and hit the free throw to give the Tigers their first lead of the game, 41-40, with 12.7 seconds left in the quarter. Togiai split his pair of free throws to tie the game at 41 going into the fourth.

The teams traded lead changes until Holmes threw down a dunk in transition off a steal to spark Millenium and never relented the lead. Wade hit a jumper to get within five, but Tosi, Amundsen, and Quincy Everson combined to hit five of their six free throws in the final 1 minute 30 seconds to put the game away.

"Our boys battled all the way through. We know that as they're playing against bigger guys, it takes a lot of energy to get to that point so the subbing was getting faster. They were giving everything they had and Millenium is talented too," Park said.

Neumann Goretti 68, Maryknoll 42

Led by Robert Wright III's 23 points, Neumann Goretti (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) marched past Maryknoll, 68-42 in the opening round. Sultan Adelwale (12 points), Amir Williams (nine), and Bruce Smith (eight) rounded out the starters' scoring for the Saints, ranked 10th in the MaxPreps Basketball Rankings, as they take on Lake Oswego (Oregon) on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

Jerome Lilio led the Spartans with 12 points and Zion Millare added 11 and Hunter Marumoto with seven and drops to the losers bracket and will play Leilehua at 9 a.m. Monday.
