Saint Louis (9-4, 27-7) 7 16 17 949

As most expected, Montverde posted an runaway 92-49 win over Saint Louis in the opening round of the Iolani Prep Classic, but the Crusaders' Pupu Sepulona had quite the evening to say the least.

The sophomore guard/forward poured in 27 points, which included three three-pointers, against the defending national champion Eagles. The mark eclipsed his previous season-high total of 21, which he posted against Waipahu on Dec. 9.

Saint Louis actually led early on, but Montverde eventually got things going, jumping out to a 22-7 lead after one and 47-23 at the break.

Derik Queen had 17 points and Davyn Gibba Lawhorn 16 to lead the Eagles. Sean Stewart and Asa Newell each had 12 in the win.

Both teams resume play at Lower Gym on Monday.
