Three Punahou players scored in double figures and held off a late Saint Louis charge to win, 55-52, at Hemmeter Fieldhouse Thursday.
Peyton Macapulay led the way with 16 points, Drake Watanabe added 12, and Kekai Burnett had 10 to help the Buffanblu even out their record at 2-2 in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I standings.
Aiva Arquette and Hayden Bayudan each scored 16 points and Revuelto added 13 as the Crusaders (3-1) suffered their first loss. Maryknoll is the lone undefeated team in the league with a 4-0 record after edging out Iolani (1-2), 55-49.
Peyton Macapulay split the one-and-one free throws to make it, 54-50 and on the other end Bayudan hit a jumper just inside the 3-point line with 31.2 seconds left in fourth.
Macapulay missed the front-end of the one-and-one free throw and Bayudan drove left but missed the layup, and Macapulay grabbed the rebound and was fouled with 13.6 seconds remaining. He made the first attempt but missed the second as Arquette grabbed the rebound and passed it to Revuelto, but his game-tying 3-point attempt from the right corner was too long and the Buffanblu secured it as time expired.
Punahou closes out the week with a road game at Mid-Pacific (1-3) on Saturday at 5 PM, while Saint Louis hosts No. 4 Maryknoll on the same night.
