Kill: H. Lyons (KLNI) 18 kills

Kalani took down Roosevelt in four sets, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, in the first girls volleyball matches played in the Oahu Interscholastic Association since 2019.

Haylee Lyons put down a match-high 18 kills to go along with a block and three aces to pace the Falcons, who also got nine kills, a block and two aces from Raymie Lum and eight more kills from Tayler Gomes.

With the score tied at 20-all in the first set, the Falcons scored four quick points, three on the arm of Lyons, to get to set point, then following a Katie Arashiro kill that kept the Rough Riders alive in the set, it was Lyons again that terminated the first set with her seventh kill of the set.

In the second set, the home team fell behind 19-9 before battling back to get within four points at 22-18 courtesy of a 9-3 scoring run, but ultimately dropped the set 25-19 as a Dylan Hall kill gave the visitors set number two.

Roosevelt jumped in front early in set three, but quickly fell behind 7-2 and never led, as Ayre Takamoto's kill off a Shaylee Yamada assist put Kalani up 2-1 in the match.

The final set of the night was all Falcons, who scored the first four points and raced from there to a lead as large as 12 en route to a 25-14 win to close things out.

Takamoto had 26 assists and added seven kills and an ace in the victory.

Setter Lauren Miller did a little bit of everything for the Roosevelt, dishing out 15 assists and chipping in four kills, a block and three aces.
