MANOA—Ostin Taylor and Colby Chun combined for 22 points to lead University Lab past Hawaii Baptist Academy, 47-40, to clinch the final Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II state tournament berth at UH Manoa's Klum Gymnasium Thursday.

The Jr. Bows return to the state tournament for the second-straight year and finish the ILH season with a 7-4 record and split the regular season series with the Eagles, who end their season at 5-6.

Taylor had a team-high 12 points, Chun had 10, Jake Flores and Josh Ancheta each had eight in the victory.

The Eagles caught fire early and led 8-0 on 3-pointers from Ridge Wada and Justin Ishida. The Jr. Bows heated up and answered with a 7-2 run of their own sparked by Taylor's 3-pointer from the right wing and Chun made a transition bucket to trail, 10-9. Hawaii Baptist scored four more points before Taylor drained his second triple as the Eagles had a one point edge going into the second.

University opened up the quarter with a 7-0 scoring run to go up seven and milked over three minutes of clock to prevent Hawaii Baptist from receiving the ball and scoring. Ancheta made a 3-pointer in the left corner before the buzzer and held a 24-14 lead at halftime.

Joe Fung, who had a game-high 14 points, ended the scoring drought for the Eagles with a pair of free throws to open the third quarter. Hawaii Baptist got the deficit down to three after Makua Marumoto's putback attempt. Marumoto was the Eagles' next leading scorer with eight.

Ancheta extended the lead with a 3-pointer and Chun added a transition layup to put the Jr. Bows up eight. After the Eagles came away from the free throw line empty-handed, Ashton Kaahanui score four straight points to put University up 12.

Hawaii Baptist entered the final quarter trailing by 10 and managed to get within five following Zach Qin's field goal. The Jr. Bows racked up fouls on the Eagles and went 8 for 20 (40 percent) from the free throw line the rest of the way. University shot 11 for 22 (50 percent) in the quarter and was 12 for 26 (46.2 percent) overall. The Eagles were 4 for 9 (44.4 percent) in the quarter and 6 for 13 (46.2) percent overall.
