Maryknoll is moving on in the ILH Division I tournament.
The Spartans led by as many as 12 points in the second half as they withstood Damien's comeback bid for a 55-51 win Monday night at Tony Sellitto Court.
Sage Tolentino scored 18 points with two made triples, Nikolas Robben had 16 and Liko Soares added 10 points to round out the Maryknoll players in double figures.
The Monarchs were led by Bryce Forbes and Hayden Bayudan in the loss with 15 and 12 points respectively.
Free throws ultimately doomed Damien, who shot 9-for-21 at the charity stripe. Maryknoll was 15-for-23 at the free throw line.
Both teams combined for 30 free throw attempts in the final period of play.
Maryknoll moves on to face Kamehameha Wednesday at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium to determine the league title. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
