Kauai to take on defending champ HPA for D2 crown

The championship matchup is set.

Undefeated Kauai rallied from a 1-0 deficit at halftime to advance to the title game against six-time champion Hawaii Prep in the Queen's Medical Center Division II Girls Soccer Championships.

The Red Raiders (13-0) got the game-winning goal from Eryka Napoleon with 20 seconds left in the game to top Mid-Pacific, 2-1, Friday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

The Owls went up 1-0 after a goal from Ashley Okinaka in the 16th minute.

Kauai got the equalizer in the 73rd minute after Noe Kaya scored off a corner kick by Ariana Hernandez before Napoleon's game-winning score.

The Red Raiders, who will be trying for their first state title, will face Ka Makani (13-1) in a 5 p.m. contest Saturday.

Hawaii Prep defeated Kapaa in the second D2 semifinal, 3-0. It got on the board in the opening minute on a goal from Isabella Police. Riley Sohriakoff and Kahele Walsh each added a second-half score to seal the deal.
