Hawaii holds on to stun San Diego State

Hawaii notched win number eight with an upset victory at home over division leader San Diego State, 14-11. In the process, the Warriors won a share of the Mountain West's West Division title and will make an appearance in the league championship game for the first time since j2012.

The Aztecs put themselves in an position to tie the game up with a last gasp march on the team's final drive, but Matt Araiza's 48 yard attempt at time expired missed wide right.

Jason-Matthew Sharsh put Hawaii on the board first on an eight yard reception for a score via Cole McDonald with 3:43 left in the opening quarter. From there, both offenses stalled for much of the second quarter untilAraiza put the Aztecs on the board with 18 seconds until the half on a 27 yard field goal.

Chevan Cordeiro took over at quarterback on the second drive of the second half for Hawaii and promptly orchestrated a 97 yard drive that culminated in a 11 yard run by Fred Holly III for what would be the game-winning score. In that drive, Cordeiro completed 3 of 6 passes for 28 yards and rushed four times for 53 more yards.

San Diego State scored its first and only touchdown in the early moments of the fourth quarter on a Ryan Agnew rush from 5 yards out with 12:58 left to play. Agnew then ran in the ensuing two point conversion to get the Aztecs within three points.

Sharsh had a career-high 10 receptions, and tallied a team-high 95 yards in the win for the Warriors, which marked the second straight for the Warriors over the Aztecs, but the first at home since 2005.
