Jake Holtz led the way with 19 points in Damien's 65-46 win over Leilehua in the semifinals of the Pete Smith Classic at Kalaheo HIgh School.
Damien led 19-11 after the end of the first quarter and 34-23 heading into the half. The Monarchs outscored the Mules in every quarter enroue to a 19 point margin at the final buzzer.
Only four other players scored for Damien, but all but one hit double digits. Hayden Bayudan scored 16, Bryce Forbes 14 and Tino Atonio 14, including a trio of three-pointers. Eight players in total took the court for the Monarchs.
In contrast, the Mules had 12 players enter the contest and nine put points on the board, led by Devon Newman, who had 13 points in defeat.
