PEARL CITY — Roosevelt quite literally went sky high Friday night as quarterback Sky Ogata rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns to go along with two through the air as the visiting Rough Riders charged through Pearl City, 49-14, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II matchup in front of a Homecoming crowd at Edwin Bino Neves Stadium.

Ogata scored on runs of 7, 33, 60 and 83 yards to help the Rough Riders (6-1 OIA, 8-1 overall) win their sixth-straight game while handing the previously unbeaten Chargers (5-1, 6-3 overall) their first loss in dominating fashion.

Fellow junior backfield mate Mitchel Camacho added 151 yards on the ground with 14 carries and a long score of his own on an 80-yard run.

"It's a good feeling," Ogata said following the victory. "This is their Homecoming and they're the No. 2 team so this was just a good feeling, good win."

While the Rough Riders offense looked seemingly unstoppable, it was the defense that got things going with the first of four interceptions after Jason Hur caught a deflected pass for the takeaway on the Chargers' opening drive of the game.

Isaac Kaleikau nabbed two interceptions and Marcus Hee had another, two of which came on throws to the end zone.

Pearl City wide receiver Micah Quillopo-Jamile started the game at quarterback and stayed behind center through the end of the first quarter when QB regulars Makana Canyon and Christian Tielu rotated throughout the rest of the contest.

The score was close near the top of the second quarter after Shayden McMoore's 1-yard plunge put the Chargers on the scoreboard to make it 14-7.

But Ogata responded by hitting Kirk Calinao deep over the middle for a 66-yard touchdown, and after the defense forced a three-and-out, Ogata rattled off a 60-yard scramble to the house. Kaleikau grabbed his first interception on the next series and Camacho dashed for 80 yards to make it a 35-7 game. Ogata later hit Aalona Monteilh for a 15-yard score with 26 seconds left in the first half to make it a 35-point mercy rule differential that started the running clock at the start of the second half.

With one week left in the regular season, both Roosevelt and Pearl City, along with Kaimuki (5-0), have already clinched spots in the four-team OIA D2 Playoffs later this month. The fourth spot will go to either Kaiser (3-3), Kalaheo (2-3) or Kalani (2-4).

The Chargers will look to rebound with a showdown next Saturday against the currently undefeated Kaimuki Bulldogs.

Roosevelt finishes with a 6-1 record and will host Saint Francis (7-0 ILH, 8-0 overall) next Friday to close out the regular season.
