WAIALUA — Kaiser senior quarterbacks Koa Tom and Casey Nguyen combined to go 18-of-21 passing for 250 yards and five touchdowns as the Cougars passed by the Bulldogs, 46-16, Friday evening in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II matchup at Toshi Nakasone Field.
Six of those passes went to sophomore Mason Yoshino, who racked up 110 yards and brought in two touchdowns. Kaulana Esteban, Chad Gakiya and Dre Falls also had TD grabs for the Cougars.
On the other side, it was a sophomore getting it down on offense too as Kai Hoekstra had eight receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior QBs Justyce Lacar and Kyler Dicion each threw a TD and finished a combined 15 of 34 for 217 yards.
The Cougars improved to 3-2 in the OIA D2 and inch closer toward claiming the fourth playoff spot with three weeks to go in the regular season.
Both teams are coming off winless seasons from a year ago.
