MAKIKI — Four different Warriors netted a pair of goals as Kamehameha closed out the Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls water polo regular season with a 10-2 win over Mid-Pacific Thursday afternoon at the Elizabeth P. Waterhouse Pool at Punahou School.
Shaye Story, Makela Riordan, Laakea Dedrick and Lori Char scored two goals each for Kamehameha with Kyra Kahahawai and Emma Kim also chipping in a goal of their own.
Mid-Pacific's Kaley Yap was the Owls' lone goal-scorer with two.
Char scored both of her goals in the first period with the first coming a minute, 21 seconds into the match to jump out to an early lead. Emma Kim followed with a goal at the 3:55 mark, and Char netted again with 23 seconds left in the first quarter.
Kamehameha improves to 6-3 while Mid-Pacific falls to 2-7.
Ten-time defending state champion Punahou clinched the ILH regular season title and secured one of the league's two state tournament berths after going undefeated at 9-0.
The ILH second round single elimination tournament beings next Monday, April 16 with fourth-seeded Iolani (1-8) taking on ILH Division II representative Le Jardin. The winner will face top seed Punahou.
