HAWAII KAI — Kayli Yoshioka launched a shot from about 45 yards out that slipped over the keeper and found the back of the net in the 45th minute to propel the Kaiser Cougars past the Aiea Na Alii, 1-0, Monday evening in opening round play of The Queen's Medical Center/HHSAA Division I Girls Soccer State Championships.
It was only the junior's second goal of the entire season.
The Oahu Interscholastic Association runner-ups advance to take on the fourth-seeded Maui Interscholastic League champion King Kekaulike (7-1-2) on Thursday, 1 p.m. at the main stadium at the Waipio Soccer Complex.
Kaiser improves to 12-3.
Aiea's season ends at 9-5.
