Hawaii Baptist defeated Kohala in the opening round of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II Girls Volleyball Championships with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-16 at Kaimuki's Gymnasium Wednesday night.
Kallie Langford led the Eagles in the straight set win with 16 kills and three aces. Brienna Nishimura and Courtney Arume followed with six kills each.
The Eagles move on to take on Big Island Interscholastic Federation D2 champ Konawaena on Thursday.
