When the Radford softball team starts heating up, watch out.

The Rams exploded for 10 runs on 14 hits to defeat Konawaena, 10-7, Wednesday afternoon at McKinley's Tiger Softball Stadium in the first round of the DataHouse/HHSAA Division II state tournament.

Radford, the fourth place team from the Oahu Interscholastic Association, recorded double-digit hits in its ninth straight game to advance into Thursday's 12 p.m. quarterfinal game against Kapaa, the third-seeded team in the 12-team tourney.

The Rams trailed 1-0 after two innings, but scored multiple runs in the next four innings to throttle Konawaena, the second place team from the Big Island Interscholastic Federation.

Baileigh Susak led Radford at the plate with a 3-for-4 day and one of the Rams' five doubles. Susak, an All-OIA First Team Selection, also drove in two runs and had a run scored.

Abigail Wilson earned the win in the circle for the Rams, scattering nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks in a complete game effort.

Konawaena's Shaylann Grace was charged with the loss, giving up 14 hits, 10 runs (seven earned), with one strikeout in 5 1/3 innings of work. Andi Uemura came over from second base to pitch the final five outs.

Erin Kaimuloa-Bates batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run to lead the Wildcats in the loss.
