Pearl City is moving on in the playoffs.
Davin Kapuras one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in Matt Aribal for the game-winning run to push the Chargers over visiting Roosevelt, 2-1, in the opening round of the 12-team Oahu Interscholastic Association postseason tournament Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers move on to take on defending OIA Division I champion Kailua on the road on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Surfriders defeated Pearl City in last year's semifinals.
Carson Okada picked up the win in the circle, scattering three hits in a complete game effort while striking out seven against one walk. The lone run that he gave up was on a balk, which allowed Riley Tanimura to score in the top of the fifth inning.
Hiram Kaikaina IV was charged with the loss for the Rough Riders. He was tagged for nine hits while striking out six and walking two.
