Moanalua got its toughest match of the season against host Roosevelt Friday night.
Na Menehune overcame the Rough Riders to improve to 8-0 atop the Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division standings with a 25-14, 22-25, 15-11 win over Roosevelt, who saw its five-game winning streak end and dropped to 6-2.
Taking advantage of a big block and working the middle, Roosevelt came from behind to win set two against Na Menehune after dropping the first set. Moanalua settled down and took the match by a score of 15-11 in the third. "Sometimes against a big block that we donʻt see that often we forget how to play volleyball," said Moanalua coach Alan Cabanting. "Weʻve still got a lot of work to do."
Moanalua hosts Kailua next while Roosevelt travels to McKinley next Monday.
