Three-time defending state champion Hawaii Prep held off a late rally by Sacred Hearts to move on in the Division II state tournament.

Ka Makani, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II champion, jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and played just enough defense to escape with a 3-2 win over the Lancers in the quarterfinal round of The Queen's Medical Center/HHSAA Division II tourney at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex Thursday afternoon.

Hawaii Prep moves on to take on Seabury Hall in the first Division II semifinal at the soccer complex's main stadium on Friday. The match is slated for 1 p.m.

Emi Higgins scored her 16th goal of the season in the 19th minute to give Hawaii Prep an early 1-0 lead. Sofia Aguilar doubled up Ka Makani's lead in the 31st minute to give the defending champs a 2-0 advantage at the half.

Jenna Perry rounded out Hawaii Prep's scoring in the 58th minute to give Ka Makani the extra goal it needed to win over Sacred Hearts.

The Lancers finally found the back of the net in the 73rd minute after Brianne Agcaoili put in her third goal of the year. Alena Schneck added another in the final minute of play to close out the match's goal scorers.
