Molokai defeated Damien in a five-set thriller to advance out of the Division II semifinals at Farrington's Kitamura Gymnasium Thursday night.
The Farmers won by set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 19-25 and 15-9 to move on to meet defending champion Hawaii Baptist in the New City Nissan/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II Boys Volleyball Championships.
Four different players had eight kills or more for Molokai. Kaimana Kahale led the Farmers with 10 kills and three solo blocks while Lekili Burrows, Michael Sterner and Rockwell Adolpho each had eight kills. Also with kills for Molokai were Dallas Arce (five), John Duvauchelle (two) and Peter Keliihoomalu.
Seth Daniels had a match-high 13 kills to lead the Monarchs in the loss.
